The phrase “it takes a village to raise a child” originates from an African proverb and conveys the message that it takes many people (“the village”) to provide a safe, healthy environment for children, where children are given the security they need to develop and flourish, and to be able to realize their hopes and dreams.
On August 28th 1963 250,000 Americans gathered on the National Mall between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument in Washington, DC in what organizers termed a “march for jobs and freedom.” People came from all over the country by planes, trains and automobile from every walk of life to as it states in the Constitution “peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
This is the exact opposite of what occurred on January 6th, 2021 when a white mob of Trump supporters invaded the Capitol to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power and “hang Mike Pence.”
